Introduction to Power Yoga
5-week series with Philip Clift
— 09/03/2008 07:00PM to 09/24/2008 07:00PM

A step by step practice of the fundamental aspects of power yoga. Students will first learn the basic postures and breath control. As the series continues, we will focus on anatomy and proper alignment of the body, graually blending these concepts into an inter linking flow of movement and breath known as vinyasa.

Learning how to strengthen and control the core musculature will be of primary importance. Upon completion of this course, students should feel comfortable stepping into any of the beginning power or flow yoga classes offered at the studio. No previous experience with yoga is required.

Price: $100.00 to attend

Bugaboos - Children's Yoga Series : Ages 4 -7
— 09/09/2008 04:00PM to 10/14/2008 04:00PM

At The Glowing Body, emerging yogis are introduced to Hatha yoga poses and breathing exercises in a fun, inspiring environment that encourages participation, imagination and creativity. Story telling, games and music will be used to teach yoga postures that challenge range of motion, balance and focus in a non-competitive way. A little yoga philosophy begins to sneak in at this level as well, as we discuss ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truthfulness) and apari graha (non-greed).

Yoga will provide children with the tools to:

* foster positive self esteem

* increase focus, concentration, and attention span

* empower and excite them about being physically and mentally fit

* learn some anatomy so they become more self-aware

Posers - Teen Yoga : Ages 12+
— 09/11/2008 04:30PM to 10/15/2008 05:30PM

The immense changes that take place in the teen years make a yoga practice the perfect way to help kids navigate these times. Teens will be supported as they learn yoga breathing techniques and postures that help improve posture, self-confidence, and sports skills with the added benefit of helping them to destress. Yoga develops your strength and flexibility, too, getting you physically fit and looking and feeling great!

By learning how basic yoga principles apply to everyday life, students can apply these lessons off the mat — like destressing before taking a test or dealing with peer pressure. By learning anatomy, teens will begin to feel more at ease with their ever-changing bodies helping to create a positive image of who they are in the world.
