Embodied Teaching: Weekend Workshop with Kim Lomonaco

Join an intimate group of teachers working toward greater effectiveness, enjoyment and longevity in teaching yoga. Explore the topics of class structuring, personal style and voice, developing range as a teacher and maintaining your personal relationship to yoga. Hone your strengths through personal reflection, led discussion and group exercises with opportunities for individualized input on your perceived areas of weakness or challenge. Utilize small group work for practical application of new skills and develop supportive relationships with your teaching peers.

It is suggested you bring a journal in addition to your mat and any other preferred supports.

Weekend Sessions:

Embodied Practice–Friday, April 21st, 6:00-7:30pm
Join in a well-balanced practice designed to make you feel introspective and grounded. Suitable for yoga teachers or committed yoga students.
*This is a Karma class. A donation basket will be at the front desk as well as a sign-in sheet. 

Bones of a Class: Sequence and Structure–Saturday, April 22nd, 9:00am-12:00pm
Study classic approaches to class sequencing and examine your current methods of class preparation. Link asanas in new but methodical ways to refresh your class plans. Clarify your priorities in your teaching, discuss ways to maximize your effectiveness through class design and minimize effort and time spent planning.

Flesh Out Your Style: Vision and Voice–Saturday, April 22nd, 1:00-4:00pm
Explore your unique voice as a teacher. Build presence and authenticity in teaching. Compare ways to relay your style through verbal skills, body language and other facets of leading a group class or individual session. Learn techniques to monitor student response and improve transmission of your message. Foster teacher-student and student-student relationships that attract loyal students.

Extend Your Reach: Adaptation and Assistance–Sunday, April 23rd, 9:00am-12:00pm
Review methods of assistance and adaptation to accommodate a broad student base. Practice basic adjustments and altered directions to best benefit the students that arrive in your class. Grow your skills in foundational teaching for absolute beginning students to progressive instruction for committed students. Refresh your confidence in sharing subtle practices including breath work and meditation.

Heart of Yoga: Inspiration and Reflection–Sunday, April 23rd, 1:00-4:00pm
Contemplate your personal relationship to yoga and manage your expectations of yourself in your teaching. Connect to ways of practicing yoga that meet your needs. Nourish yourself and mitigate doubt, fear or burnout that can result from being a teacher whom holds your self to high standards. Draw from resources to inform and inspire you. Participate in a reflective practice and enjoy the camaraderie of your peers.

Full Weekend: $140

 

 

Individual Sessions: $40
