Frame of Reference: Structural Exploration with David Regelin
January 10, 2015 @ 8:00 am - January 11, 2015 @ 2:00 pm$50.00 – $180.00
A well-rounded practice has both curves and edges. Explore these structures and learn how to skillfully soften or harden accordingly.
Surya Namaskar Intensive – 9:00am-12:00pm
An in-depth look at the pattern, precision, rhythm, and repetition of sun salutations. Class will focus on breath control, the oscillation between concentration and expansion, the inward search for bandhas, and the outward position of the body.
Physical Origami – 2:00-5:00pm
There are only so many ways in which the body is designed to fold. Learn fluid, logical, and progressive sequences that set the foundation needed to achieve the vast array of bound and folded yoga postures.
Handstand Intensive – 9:00-11:00am
Find your center of gravity in order to achieve lightness through the combined efforts of the upper and lower body. Learn to float rather than press into your handstand.
Architecture of Backward Bending – 1:00-3:00pm
This class will bring awareness to the many small curves of the body and relate them to the great curves of backbend postures. We will address techniques for reforming arches for those who do not naturally backbend and for creating boundaries for those whom back bending comes all too easily. Complimentary forward and side bend poses will be included as well.
These sessions are appropriate for all levels of practitioner.

A New York City based yoga teacher, David Regelin is interested in the ongoing exploration of yoga’s potential, depth, and complexity. Over his 10 years of practice, he has shifted from simply working hard, to working efficiently, methodically, architecturally, and imaginatively.
David believes that a yoga practice can refine and elevate our sense of self, harmonize our constitution, and transcribe the body’s language. Through practice and study, most notably with Nevine Michaan, he has developed a method of teaching that relates the depth, skill, relevancy, and practicality that a mindful yoga practice has to offer.
