Meaning & Metaphor in Your Practice with Siobhan McAuley

September 21 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

How We Do Anything, Is How We Do Everything: Working With Meaning & Metaphor In Our Practice

In this practice-based workshop for teachers and students we’ll explore how the body communicates to us both literally and symbolically. By examining how we do our practice with a focus on what the body may be trying to tell us, we gain deeper insight into who we’re being in our life, relationships and work outside of practice.

The body reveals what we are only able to see when we look beyond the execution of the pose and begin to inquire why we do, what we do, the way that we do it. A foot that turns out, a rigid neck, a hand that droops or a body that resists folding forward all have stories to tell us about who we are beyond the appearance of our physical limitations.

Students will have a chance to be the observer and the practitioner gaining insights into their own practice as well as developing the capacity to ‘see clearly’ who they’re really being.

Siobhan McAuley is the founder of The Meaning Maker Movement and the creator of The Process, a conceptual framework that teaches us how to access an internally sourced experience of happiness. Through the lens of The Process, students learn how to develop a daily practice not as something they must do but as a way of experiencing the truth of who they are. The aim of her work is to support others in establishing a practice in which they are their own teachers.
