Simple, But Not Easy:
Approaching Mindfulness Meditation with Kindness

This four-part series will explore the foundations of mindfulness practice, including mindfulness of body, mindfulness of feelings, and mindfulness of mind. In tandem with this, we’ll make plenty of space to bring kindness to these practices, meeting our minds just where they are. We’ll also discuss ways to develop and sustain these practices both on and off the cushion.

Each 75-minute class will include a short talk; practice —including sitting, standing, walking, and/or movement; and ample time for questions, discussion and connecting.

About the Instructor:

Carra is grateful for the balance and grounding that asana and meditation have provided her life. Her intention is to offer classes where these same qualities can develop for others. She began her practice and study of vipassana (insight) meditation in April 2009 and has spent over 128 days in retreat, as well as offering one year as residential staff at Cloud Mountain Retreat Center. She is currently completing the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, guided by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. She began yoga asana practice in 2004 and is a proud Glowing Body Teacher Training 2023 grad. Her asana classes are gentle and alignment-based. She brings focus to awareness of breath and body, strengthening and balance, and finding ample time for rest. Carra lives in rural Knoxville and is a proud okra pickler and chicken parent.
