The Four Foundations: Mindfulness and Liberation with John Blackburn

How can we find ease, peace and emotional stability in the midst of daily life? In The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, the Buddha gives very clear instructions. He calls this the direct path for overcoming grief and sorrow, for ending suffering and anxiety, for realizing nirvana. This class offers an overview of this teaching and introduces specific practices that take us deeper into an understanding of Mindfulness as the path to liberation.

About John: John Blackburn, Ph.D., has been practicing meditation for over forty years. He has studied with teachers in several traditions including Zen and Vipassana (Insight). He serves on the Board of the Southern Dharma Retreat Center in Spring City, NC. John leads a local sitting group at the Knoxville Community of Mindfulness. He also serves as a hospice volunteer.
