Sunday, December 7, 2014: 1:30-3:30 – Full Spectrum Practice: Regaining the Divine Feminine
We often talk about the “yin” and “yang” or the “ida” and “pingala” in yoga as sometimes representing the “feminine” and “masculine” aspects of practice. By using asana, pranayama, and meditation (and hand mudras too!) we will invite the “yin” into the equation to discover how this aspect can support our health and healing even in the context of a vigorous practice.
$50
This weekend is suitable for all levels of practitioner, although it will have a decidedly therapeutic focus. The full spectrum practice is most suitable for those with some yoga experience.
About Gabriel:
Gabriel Halpern has been practicing yoga since 1970 and his early training was in San Francisco and Pune, India. He holds degrees in philosophy and a masters in health psychology and is a longtime member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. For over twenty years he was a core performance faculty member at DePaul University’s Theater Department, where he focused on movement in the performing arts. Founder and director of Yoga Circle in Chicago, Halpern knows first-hand what it is to live with pain and bounce back with zest for life. Suffering from a broken vertebra at age 15, he has dedicated his life journey to the pursuit of yoga and yoga therapy. Owing to the direct influence of learning from a once-in-a-lifetime master teacher and over 4 decades of continuous study, Gabriel’s teaching is all that is yoga: zeal in practice, science, art form, and a deep and healthy respect for the more traditional, energetic parts of the practice. He delivers all of this with warm humor and incredible generosity. Not to mention he’s a vegetarian chef and a chocoholic.
