~ William K. Mahony, Exquisite Love
Karma classes have been on our schedule since we opened in 2008. Unfortunately, since the pandemic began, in order to make ends meet, we had to stop offering donation-based classes. This April, Karma classes are taking over the schedule – with a slight change. Classes will be pick-your-price instead of donation-based. Our teachers have elected to offer 21 classes a week with this pricing structure. View the Karma month schedule.
Though yoga has become a booming for-profit industry, along with other wellness services and products, most yoga teachers have a heart for teaching that means more to them than income. Karma is a Sanskrit word that means action. In this particular context, we are taking the perspective that sharing yoga has ripple effects throughout the community. We are treating this as a timed, concerted effort to share yoga widely, as a contribution to the adaptation and resilience of our community.
No. Consider this a social experiment and community service project you get to be part of! When you register for a class via MindBody, you will be asked to pick your price from set pricing increments, instead of being told the price.
The expectation is that the generosity of some students will supplement the financial hinderance to others, so place a value on the class with that in mind. It is recognized that for some, the value they place on what is offered may be highly internal, and we encourage selecting a contribution that feels comfortable to you.
Since the pandemic hit, we have had our Pay Practice Forward program in place. Read more about it, and consider enrolling, to make it possible for us to provide no-cost access to those who need it.
All students must pre-register for classes due to limits on our class sizes – 8 people per class, 4 students for Ropes + Props. You will need to create an account in our MindBody system in order to reserve a space in classes and pay for classes. Students who have previously purchased a class card will still able to redeem them as usual.
Yes! You may continue using your card as usual, or you may request to hold your card for the month of April, and your card expiration will be extended by a month. Send us an email if you wish to extend your card while you take advantage of Karma Month options.
All the classes on our weekly schedule will be offered with Karma pricing options.
You will need to create an account in our MindBody system in order to reserve a space in classes and pay for classes. Pre-registration for classes is strongly suggested. Drop-ins may not be able to be accommodated if the class is full.
Though Karma Month pick-your-price classes will only last through April, we are offering a limited time promotion on a monthly 10 class pass, to keep your momentum going! This special promotion will be available during the entire month of April. You must enroll before April ends in order to receive this promotional pricing.
