Thai Yoga Side-Lying & Herbal Compress with Kelly Scott

This is a full-body sequence from the side-lying position, as a 3-dimensional approach. This course will demonstrate how to work with pregnancy and Thai herbal compresses. The side-lying position is also great for those who find it difficult to lie face down.  Application of Thai herbal compresses will be infused in the session

Traditional Thai Herbal Compress Application

Thai Herbs are widely used in the tradition of Thai Massage.
Hot herbal compresses have a long history in Thailand. The compresses are often used to ease mental stress and relax the body. Today, in Thailand, herbal compresses are used in massage shops, spas, and among family members, using specialized recipes passed down through the generations.

This is a full one-day course is an introduction to making herbal compresses and the benefits of use.

No Prior Experience Necessary

One of the main complaints from clients is related to lower back pain. If you suffer from lower back pain, this course is for you! No experience is necessary to learn Thai Yoga Massage and Osetothai techniques that will help you to feel better and heal.

We will focus on the spine and mainly the lower back area in order to help improve the quality of function and structure, in order to increase mobility, restore vitality and bring back ease of movement. This area is an important meeting point for different structures: musculoskeletal, visceral, nervous, facial, and energetic. We will use special dynamic and static techniques coming from Thai massage and Osteopathy principles.

A very delicate touch is needed to manipulate the belly to facilitate detoxification during the practice of traditional Thai Massage. The belly is described as ‘The Center of the Universe, and by freeing the structures of the belly, we also free the function of our organs and digestive system.  This course highlights the organs, ligaments of the belly, and connective tissue. This course includes techniques especially helpful for those with digestive disorders, low back conditions, sacroiliac joint pain, and shoulder pain.

In this course, we will observe the connection of the muscular, fascia, and structural parts of the head, neck, and shoulders. The cervical spine (neck) is an important path for the nervous system and blood circulation. Tension in this area creates numerous problems in our breathing and digestive systems. We will discuss a therapeutic approach with a focus on the rib cage, breathing techniques, mobilization of the joints, and cerebral spinal fluid with the integration of the spine.
