Thai on the Table with Kelly Scott

This is an innovative class incorporating Thai yoga for therapists working on the massage table.  Content will include a full body Thai yoga treatment, safe effective stretching techniques, and improved body mechanics for practitioners.  We will also observe foundational principals of yoga elements applied in Thai massage. This course is perfect for the traditionally trained therapist looking to refresh and deepen their work with less strain on your hands and wrists.

Benefits of Thai on The Table:

  • You do not have to use linens, oils and no one needs to undress.  For sanitation purposes, it is easy to wipe everything down.  
  • The principles and techniques in this course is a combination of Thai (compression & stretching) and Osteopathy principles which allows deeper access in the body without pain or force driven techniques.  I believe this to be one of the finest courses and can easily be done on a mat on the floor, if this is your preference.
  • Table Thai is the bridge of Eastern and Western methodologies that helps the therapist in their body mechanics for longevity of the profession.
  • A new service offered to your menu of services or a stand alone service that makes you unique!
 
You get to choose either virtual classroom experience or live, in-person participation.
 
Here are a few requirements for the virtual platform:

1) You choose a partner (preferably another massage therapist) to work with for the duration of the course. This will assimilate a hands on experience. Submit the name of your partner you have chosen to work with prior to the course date. You may have more than one throughout the weekend.

2) Create Zoom account and make sure your audio and camera are working.

The Anatomical Properties and Treatment Protocol of the Foot with Kelly Hughs

Saturday, December 5th, 9:00am – 4:00pm

A fundamental review of the anatomical and emotional properties associated with postural distortion.
 
Instruction for a clinical evaluation of the feet to determine structural misalignment including fascial band restrictions, restricted range of motion and weight bearing differences that often lead to the common diagnosis of Plantar Fasciitis.
 
A thirty minute hands on protocol will be taught and practiced.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Student will know a variety of the primary muscles and bones associated with the foot.
  • Student will have a working knowledge of the primary motions of the foot.
  • Student will have a working knowledge of postural distortions of the foot.
  • Student will have a thorough understanding of the implications of Plantar Fasciitis.
  • Student will recognize the emotional component affiliated with the foot.
  • Student will have a working knowledge of and the capability to perform a thirty-minute hands-on protocol than can be utilized effectively for common diagnosis of the feet.

Tennessee Law & Ethics with Kelly Hughs

Tennessee Law for Licensed Massage Therapists
A 2-hour Law course on the current Rules and Regulations according to the Tennessee Licensure Board.

Tennessee Ethics for Licensed Massage Therapists
This 2-hour course provides a code of ethics to be followed by the Licensed Massage Therapist. These recommendations are based on standards and guidelines that protect the public as well as the Massage Therapist.

Side-Lying and Herbal Compression with Kelly Scott

Next offered in 2021.

Side-lying techniques may be used for clients who are not comfortable lying on their front due to reasons, such as pregnancy, obesity, sinus pressure, or large breasts. You can utilize this in addition to your classic routine for longer sessions in excess of 90 minutes-2 hour sessions. This is a deeply therapeutic massage technique.

We will study and practice a sequence in the side lying position infused with traditional herbal compression technique.

One of the main complaints from clients is related to lower back pain. If you suffer from lower back pain, this course is for you! No experience is necessary to learn Thai Yoga Massage and Osetothai techniques that will help you to feel better and heal. 

We will focus on the spine and mainly the lower back area in order to help improve quality of function and structure, in order to increase mobility, restore vitality and bring back ease of movement. Abdominal Thai Yoga Massage Techniques with Kelly Scott

Thai Massage for Head, Neck & Shoulders with Kelly Scott

In this course we will observe the connection of the muscular, fascia and structural parts of the head, neck and shoulders. The cervical spine (neck) is an important path for the nervous system and blood circulation. Tension in this area creates numerous problems in our breathing and digestive systems.
