Your Health is Our Priority

Update March 16, 2020

After careful consideration, we plan to close Glowing Body to the public from March 17th-23rd.
We will notify you of the extension of this closure or the date of reopening as soon as possible.

We will hold regularly scheduled classes on Monday, March 16th, and massage therapists will be contacting clients directly to make arrangements for maintaining or rescheduling appointments.

This is not a decision we take lightly. We have been reluctant to act prematurely, and to compromise the livelihood of anyone affiliated with the studio more than necessary. However, we feel it is most consistent with our mission of promoting wellness and social conscientiousness that we limit opportunity for our community to be overwhelmed by unintentional spread of COVID-19, and we do not want to wait too long to take action.

We feel heavily the weight of responsibility of making these choices. Our teachers, therapists, staff, and the studio are vulnerable to financial struggle without our doors open for business. This week, we will research avenues for streaming web-based classes. When we determine the best outlet, we will provide details via email and on our website on how you can sign up and participate. We will be in contact to share ideas for how you might support us in lieu of class attendance, if you are in a position to do so.

Of course, Kelly and I are open to your feedback and concerns. We hope you will understand we are doing our best to make the next right choice, based on the information we have available at this time.

Above all, we desire for our community to stay well and to continue benefiting from practice. Acts of service for your neighbors, tending to your immune system, and nurturing your mental health are ways to put your practice in action outside of our walls.

We want you to feel confident we are implementing best practices to ensure that the studio is as safe as possible.

We understand the rise in concerns about COVID-19 and other communicable illnesses during this season, so please rest assured that we are closely monitoring the situation. We always keep health and safety a priority, but for now, we are not canceling any workshops or classes.

We are following local, state, and federal government advisories regarding travel and group congregation on a daily basis. If you are registered for an event, or are a regular class taker, you will be notified if there are any changes as soon as possible. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Many of the following practices are already in place at Glowing Body, but so we are clear what you can expect, below is our commitment to you.

We will:

  • Clean bathrooms and common spaces thoroughly, including the entry, studios, and treatment rooms daily, and wipe down hard surfaces with disinfecting wipes a minimum of twice daily.
  • Ensure hand sanitizer, hand soap, disposable paper napkins, and tissues are on hand at all times.
  • Provide disposable wipes in the studios for wiping down studio yoga mats and blocks before and after each use. Bringing your own mat or blocks may reduce your risk of contact with pathogens.
  • Spray the ropes and slings with disinfectant daily.
  • Wash bolster covers weekly.
  • If you are sick, we are happy to extend your class package expiration date. Don’t stress about getting your classes in if you are not well. We will happily accommodate you!

Here is what you can do:

  • Wash your hands using proper technique on arrival before you do anything else inside the studio and after coughing, sneezing, touching your face, or touching anyone else. This is the single most important thing you can do for yourself and for everyone at the studio.
  • Cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow, or into a tissue and dispose of it immediately, and complete proper hand hygiene prior to touching other surfaces.
  • Consider bringing your own clean pillowcase or towel to cover borrowed blankets, blocks, or bolsters while using them. An alternative would be draping a clean paper towel or tissue between your face and other surfaces.
  • Use provided wipes to thoroughly clean any studio supplies you borrow.
  • If you don’t feel well, please stay home and rest. Do not attempt to “sweat it out” or push through feeling unwell.
  • Let your teacher know in advance of class if you would prefer not to be touched.

The more rested you are, the more you maintain good nutrition, and the more you manage your stress through something like yoga practice, the more resistance you will have.

May all beings be happy, healthy and safe.

Kim & Kelly
